new tank time

Post  phantom on Mon Jan 17, 2011 8:48 pm

well the D.I.Y section has the tank being built so I thought I would start a thread
on getting the tank up and running.

so from my last tank thread you would have noticed the stand I got built
was larger than the nano on it.The reason for this was I knew there was
an upgrade coming sooner or later lol!

so all the corals into the sump and the fish into another nano tank
using the water that was in the main tank.then measure up
all the holes and where to put everything

mess everywhere Very Happy

and heres the pics of the tank in place

and a shot of the way my standpipes are done

so now just to get more water and thats it up and running

put your filter sock over the 2 of the pipes this will bring your water line up a slight bit in your sump or just add more water .

think everything is starting to settle down now.
skimmer has started getting back to the skimming rate
it was at before the upgrade and the brown sandbed is
nearly all but gone .also noticed my zoa's are
starting to grow faster in this tank......noticed a few new
heads so hopefully this keeps up Very Happy
also used miliput to put my greens on the side of the arch,
hopefully they will take and grow up the side of it rather than
just having them on the sandbed.

hopefully it will be smooth sailing from here on in Very Happy

so new votech wave making powerhead added along with a spray bar return set up
and the ph has went from 7.7 to setting around 8.1.hopefully this is my tank starting to
settle down now.
levels so far are
cal : 400
dkh : 9.9 working on finding the right dosing amount
mag : 1350
ph : 8.1
nitrate : 0.1
phos : dont know....need to buy a D&D test kit lol
salinity : 1.025
temp : 25

also added a new blv bulb which I dont think the gorgonian
liked as its not looking too hot even though when I added the
new bulb I raised the light to try and reduce light shock.
will add some pics soon.
