Re: TMC microhabitat 15l
low phosphates in your system increase coral growth and
also high phosphate give you heaps of algae to deal with.
heres a write up to read if you want to know more

Re: TMC microhabitat 15l
yeah thats exactly what its doing but by using a reactor
you fluidise it better giving a better result. My first reactor
was a diy job and it worked fine.heres the thread about it https://reefrange.forumotion.co.uk/t10-diy-phosphate-reactor-for-27

Re: TMC microhabitat 15l
yeah no real need with a small tank but thought the pump
would work better as a powerhead for you.

Re: TMC microhabitat 15l
fair enough
would also free up more room in the back chamber
could run something else with filter floss
any ideas what else could go in?
also have been thinking and still not convinced need the skimmer :/
i could mod the chamber and get another pump in then have two pumps one either end or run something else in there?
needs consideration :?

In my opinion a skimmer is a vital piece of kit although there are plenty of people that dont use them.

A skimmer takes out around 40% or more of organic waste from your tank, I.e Fish poop.

Re: TMC microhabitat 15l
personally I would get a nano and sump it, This will both make things more interesting and be easier to keep right

Re: TMC microhabitat 15l
stock wise atm just corals but i would love a small nano goby but wait till tank totally settled!
CUC i'm not sure...atm i have 1 nass snial but this but need to get more in soonish to start cleaning the rock...maybe 1 turbo?
would also like to have a shrimp but i like the scarlet cleaner and the bloods and they can both grow to big although a mini maxi nem with sexy shrimps would be quite cool
also the idea of a symbiotic pair is quite cool...tbh i am rubbish with decisions and theres to many options in this tiny tiny nano so what am i gunna be like with a larger tank :s lol
as for the sump...i agree would make life so much easier but i would need help setting this up as i have NO idea what to do
this is my very very basic understandings of a sump and this may be very wrong
water from tank to sump
water goes through compartments to different stages...filteration and stuff
water is returned via return pump
process cycles
if i were to sump it what would be best bits to put in the sump? this list any good?
heater
protein skimmer
phosphate reactor
what about filteration?
i could mod the tank and take out the chambers in the back of the tank allowing room for overflow but lose filteration

Re: TMC microhabitat 15l
If you figured out a sump idea then you wouldnt need a filter in the tank
at all.are the rear compartments in your tank fully waterproof or if you filled them only
would the leak into the main tank?
admin is better at figuring out designs,he done mine and it working
on a real good looking 3ft sump for himself atm.
for CUC get some dove snails, they stay small but do a lot of cleaning,
think your right with the turbo....think its 1 turbo for every 10ltr.
If you get a sexy shrimp keep an eye on him, there is people that
have problems with them eating corals and annoying leathers/zoas,
thats why I went with just a cleaner shrimp.

Re: TMC microhabitat 15l
the rear chambers have two entrance slots...one bottom left (skimmer) and other top middle (filter media)
hpoefully he can post about the sump then
will look into getting couple of doves and wouldnt a cleaner be to big for this tank?
would love one if not

Re: TMC microhabitat 15l
Ive read somewhere that sexy shrimp eat zoas and even there host in the wild but only do so in groups and when there hungry and theres no food source, Keep them well fed and they should be fine. I would say a cleaner shrimp would be to big by the time you put rock and corals in.
